MohawkValleyPhotos.com is a stock photography web site that allows you to search through our collection of Central New York photographs, purchase archival prints and license images for use in your publication or web site.

MohawkValleyPhotos.com was redesigned in 2008 for simplicity and ease-of-use. With our commercial clients in mind, we've added a lightbox feature that allows you to save several lightboxes and even e-mail them to everyone in your workgroup.

Searching

MohawkValleyPhotos.com has an easy-to-search database for our ever-growing collection of stock images. You can browse by category, or enter keywords in the search box to narrow your choices. Each photo has been embedded with keywords to help you narrow your search. An Advanced Search option is also available to help you locate specific images.

HOW TO LICENSE IMAGES AND PURCHASE PRINTS

Rights Managed vs. Royalty Free

“Royalty-free” is a type of a stock photo license that provides for the unlimited use of a photo in any media defined in the licensing terms for one set price. “Royalty-free” is the opposite of “Rights-Managed.”

A rights-managed photo has a license that states specifically how it can be used: what size, what media & medium and how long. The price depends on this information. For example, a photo that is used in a full page, national ad will cost a lot more than a photo used on a personal web site.

MohawkValleyPhotos.com does not license royality-free photographs. We only sell rights-managed usage. We do this to protect the integrity of our photos.

The Lightbox

The Lightbox is YOUR collection of images that you set aside. Collecting the images you are considering in a Lightbox allows you to compare images before you decide on a final one for purchase. You can e-mail your Lightbox to a friend or everyone working on your project. You may add up to 30 images to your lightbox.

If you wish to order prints, click on the thumbnail to go to the image’s detail page. You will find a list of print sizes and prices. (Please note that due to artistic cropping, not all prints will be exactly the standard size listed. Please do not purchase frames until you have received your print and can measure its exact size.)

If you wish to license an image that is in your lightbox, please click "Send to Licensing Dept," and add your contact information in the fields when asked. See below for more information on licensing images.

Shopping Cart

The shopping cart is used for print orders only. It displays your order details. If you wish to delete an image from your order before proceeding to checkout, simply hit the remove link on the right side.

Checking Out

You will need to login to checkout your order. If you are new to the site please complete the registration form to create a username and password. This information is stored, so that you can return to the site to make future purchases and so that we can review your orders.

My Account

This page shows and stores your order history and account information.

Image Resolution

Most of our images were shot digital over the past 8 years and have resolutions that vary between 7 and 12.5 Megapixels. If resolution is a concern, please let us know your requirements. All photos will be sent in a .jpg format unless a TIFF is requested.

Print Quality

All prints are archival, and machine printed on satin-surface, silver halide photo paper. (No ink jet or dye sub!) Each print is also sprayed with a protective spray. Our lab can print up to 30x90, so if you require an extra large size, call us at 315-733-3299 for prices and to see if the image you are inquiring about has the quality to be reproduced at that size.

Pricing

To provide a rate quote for any usage, we need to know the following:

• Specific Use: in what media will the picture(s) be used? (I.e. book, magazine, brochure, web site, video, etc.)
• Media: print, web, TV, billboard, etc.
• Industry: in what industry will it be used? (i.e.: publishing, newspaper, magazine, advertising, annual report.) Please also include the name of your publication if applicable.
• Distribution area: local, regional, national, international
• Size: The image size related to the final page size if printed, I.e. 1/2 page, full page, etc., or screen size if on web site
• Total circulation: How many copies will be produced.
• Duration: amount of time you plan to use the image(s)
• Start date/End date

Usage Rights

You will be granted a license for a ONE-TIME, NON-EXCLUSIVE USE. This means that you can use the image for one type of publication or web domain only. If you use the image in a brochure, you do not have the right to create a new product such as a magazine ad, which uses the same image.

Non-exclusive means that we also have the right to license that same image to anyone else. Please contact us at (315) 733-3299 if exclusive usage is required. If you purchase exclusive rights, we will remove the image from our stock collection, but we reserve the right to use it in our personal portfolio for exhibition purposes.

Payment Method

We have only one method of payment. PayPal securely processes payments for MohawkValleyPhotos.com. PayPal is fast and easy, and accepts all credit and debit cards. Your shopping cart will lead you through the process.

Delivery

Image files can be delivered via FTP, a download link (preferred), or sent on CD/DVD. (Postage may be charged to your account for orders under $250.)

*If you input "beautiful +sunset" (without the quotes) into the search field, the system will only return results for any media that contain both keywords "beautiful" AND "sunset" in its properties.

*If you input "beautiful “sunset" (without the quotes) into the search field, the system will return results for any media that contain the keyword "beautiful", but this media can't contain the keyword "sunset" in its properties.

*Note: There must not any spaces between the second keyword and the input operands (+), (-) keywords.

*Match at least one keyword: The system will return results for any media that contain either one of the input keywords in its properties.
*Match all keywords: The system will only return results for any media that contain all input keywords in its properties.
*Match exact phrase: The system will only return results for any media that contains the exact input keyword phrase in its properties.
